Tom’s dynamic musical background spans many worlds, and he brings a diverse range of influences to his work for film & TV, pop albums and orchestral concerts. He recently won Best Original Score at the Los Angeles Movie Awards (LAMA’s) with his score for the short film ‘Dr Grordbort Presents: The Deadliest Game’.

Tom has just completed a second season scoring the hit teen comedy TV series Girl Vs Boy, as well as scores for several NZFC funded short films. Other recent work includes scoring kiwi western feature film Netherwood, four drama/romance tele-features for ZDF in Germany (Polyphon/GFC) including Tom’s original songs, and collaborations with filmmaker Costa Botes which include scores for the acclaimed doco-features The Last Dogs Of Winter, Candyman, Daytime Tiger and Lost In Wonderland.

Tom collaborated with award-winning indie-rock band The Phoenix Foundation on their gold-selling album, Happy Endings, and Luke Buda on the album Vesuvius. He has produced and arranged albums such as Tim Beveridge’s Come Rain Come Shine for Sony Music – recorded in LA alongside Oscar-winning arranger Russell Garcia; and The Spirit Symphony with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra; as well as several tracks for pop album Abe Messiah, from the worldwide hit children’s TV series The Tribe.

Tom’s original TV scores include prime-time musical drama series Karaoke High (also writing songs and lyrics for the series); teen horror-series The Killian Curse 2, superhero comedy-drama series The Amazing Extraordinary Friends, and spy-comedy series Secret Agent Men for which he was nominated for Best Original Music at the NZ Screen Awards 2005. He co-scored action tele-feature Maiden Voyage starring Casper van Dien, and has also scored several short films and TV commercials.

In 2008, Tom was commissioned by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra to compose for the innovative new short film competition “CUT TO: MUSIC” in which filmmakers were required to create a film to fit his score – a work which was selected for the SOUNZ Readings and recorded by the NZ Symphony Orchestra in 2010 for broadcast on Radio NZ.

As Music Director, Tom orchestrated teen TV series’ The Tribe (series 4), cult hit Atlantis High, and historical family drama Revelations – all produced for the UK’s Channel 5 – as well as several light entertainment shows for TVNZ, including Showcase, Young Entertainers, The Gong Show, and the recent TV2 live entertainment series One Night Only,

Tom regularly arranges and conducts concert events such as Carols By Candlelight, as well as touring his faux Las Vegas comedy act Tommy Love and the Loungerillo Orchestra – a role he has performed on both stage and screen.
