Bobby Kennedy is an award winning songwriter and composer from Auckland New Zealand.
As well as being a founding member and drummer for multi-platinum selling kiwi band OPSHOP, Bobby has been writing and recording music for over 20 years.
After studying Jazz in Christchurch in the early 90’s Bobby went on to play drums and record with many well known artists including Neil Finn, The Stereo Bus, Dave Yetton (JPSE) and Marshmallow (Alan Gregg The Muttonbirds featuring Ron Sexsmith and Bic Runga) before co-founding OPSHOP in 2000.
Bobby has been nominated as a finalist for The Silver Scroll on 3 occasions finally taking out the award as co-songwriter for the OPSHOP song “One Day” in 2008.
With many short film and documentaries under his belt some of his past clients include The Department of Conservation and The Ministry of health and in 2010 he wrote a new theme song for iconic children’s television show “What Now”.
Bobby continues to be a contemporary recording and touring artist and composes for TV, Film, and new media and has a boutique media production house Alphaman Productions which also produces video and 3D animation content for TV, Web and music videos.
Bobby is also a co-founder of The Screen Composers Guild of New Zealand.
